Volunteering – helping the Trust

Volunteering

The Trust is working towards raising awareness and improving the standard of care currently provided to women who suffer from Ectopic Pregnancies. With limited resources available, we rely heavily on our team of volunteers who take on a variety of roles, either supporting other people or working with the Trust in other ways to help to achieve our aims. Could you offer some time to help us? We are actively recruiting new volunteers, and whatever you can do to help, it will be most appreciated.

Helping the Trust

We rely on our volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the Trust, and to assist us with ensuring that the information and advice we provide is accurate and safe. We also have volunteers who actively promote the work of the Trust, educating the public and professional bodies on the work that we do. We are actively recruiting volunteers to help with the following projects.

1. Media Work – sharing your story
Would you be prepared to represent women who have had an ectopic pregnancy on, for example, local committees, PR interviews or TV appearances? Newspapers and magazines in particular are always looking for someone to interview and share an experience. We also receive occasional requests from television programme and documentary makers too. Get in touch if you think this may be of interest to you.

2. Website development
Our website is under constant review and development to ensure that information and links are up-to-date and accurate. We have a number of ‘Web Development Tester’ volunteers with whom we consult about significant amendments and new developments on the site. If you would like to be considered for this panel, please contact us.

3. Help with the production of the quarterly newsletter
Do you have editorial skills or a background in journalism, copywriting or proof-reading? You might be just the person we are looking for to help us keep our publication ‘Topic’ full of interesting articles. If you would like to help out with this, please contact us, telling us how you think you can help.

4. PR
Do you have PR experience? Could you represent the Trust on the phone, in writing or in meetings? If you feel you could help us, please contact us.

5. Focus Group Member
Would you like to be a member of a focus group, using your knowledge, experience and expertise to help us to improve our services? If you feel you could help us, please contact us.

6. Event Manager
If you feel you could help us with event management, please contact us.

7. Linking with hospitals. We have a small number of regional and local volunteers who visit hospitals and provide a link to the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust for the hospital staff and the people they care for. If you are interested, please contact us.

Anyone interested in volunteering can begin the process by completing a Volunteer Interest Form. This needs to be completed and sent back by post to the address on the form. We require your signature on the document and so are unable to accept this form by electronic mail. Volunteers also must be willing to supply two character references before they can take on a role with the EPT. All volunteers and staff are required to undertake a period of training. We always have space for another willing volunteer. You can see our Volunteer Policy here. Our postal address is as follows:

The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust,
c/o 2nd Floor, Golden Jubilee Wing
King’s College Hospital
Denmark Hill
London
SE5 9RS

Once we have received your form we’ll be in touch to talk to you about what training involves and the kind of things you might like to do with us.
