How can I get a test?
The EPT believe that we have a responsibility to you to ensure you know how to find centres who can undertake Chlamydia testing for you. No matter what your age, your GP can arrange for you to be tested at the surgery and the results are given to you by your doctor. If you are over the age of 25 and believe you may have been at risk of catching the infection, you might consider discussing the need for a Chlamydia test when your cervical smear test is next due or at an appointment to discuss your contraception. This might be at your GP surgery or at a Family Planning Centre. And you can also make an appointment for a full sexual health screen at your nearest GUM clinic.

The EPT have also collaborated with a private company called Medichecks who provide a discreet service to enable you to check whether you may have chlamydia. Full instructions are issued with the test kit and the results are provided to you quickly and confidentially. If you have the infection, you and your partner would need to take a simple course of antibiotics. There is a charge for the Medicheck test.
It’s important to understand that sexually transmitted infections are NOT necessarily diseases of people who are promiscuous, but a simple consequence of unprotected sexual intercourse between two otherwise healthy people. Making sure you are checked out, especially if you believe you might be at risk of infection, will protect your fertility and wider sexual health
