Leaflets

Our patient-orientated literature is the product of 4 years of consultation with doctors, nurses and patients.  It is designed to ensure that doctors and nurses involved in the counselling process are able to give tailored, quality information about the patient’s condition and treatment, in a consistent format which should help to ensure that each patient is fully informed at the point of treatment. All of the information in our treatment information pack is reproduced on our website along with more detailed information it would not be practical to produce in leaflet form.

Our research shows that patients who feel informed at the point of treatment or shortly thereafter, achieve a faster and more complete recovery from this life threatening condition. Our patient-orientated literature is peer reviewed and reprinted annually.  We hold the supplies, sending out small amounts of the leaflets as and when each hospital needs them. This ensures that they only ever have up to the minute, medically accurate information for their patients with ectopic pregnancy.

To receive the literature produced by the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust to then supply to hospital patients, the hospital will need to become a ‘Friend of the Trust.’ This membership entitles the hospital to a range of benefits: a quantity of tailored literature, supplied to them in pre-packed format, copies of our biannual magazine Topic, our leaflet Chlamydia and Ectopic Pregnancy, our brochure and priority notification of our training events and activities and in some cases preferential rates for these. Membership costs £39.00 per hospital, per year. This does not cover the cost of materials we supply to the hospital, only the postage. We work very hard to fundraise to be able to supply our leaflets free at the point of delivery to hospitals as well as individuals.

Hospitals in membership may receive up to 150 treatment information packs and unlimited quantities of the other documents. Unlike some organisations, we do not ask hospitals to pay per leaflet or information pack, as we believe it is important to make quality information available to patients at as an affordable cost, as possible.

We currently provide the following in our literature suite:

Treatment information packs

Ectopic Pregnancy and Surgical Management

Ectopic Pregnancy and Medical Management

Ectopic Pregnancy and Expectant Management

These packs are designed to be given to the patient at the point where a treatment plan for the ectopic pregnancy has been agreed between patient and health care team. Each pack carefully details information about the treatment and what to expect from recovery.
