About Us

The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust, a registered national charity, was established 1998 to meet the needs of  people who have experienced ectopic pregnancy and the health care professionals who care for them.

Ectopic Pregnancy is a common condition which affects one in eighty pregnancies.  It occurs when the embryo grows outside the womb and, if not treated, can be life threatening.  There are on average five deaths per year and it is the leading cause of maternal death in the first trimester of pregnancy (Source: Confidential Enquiry into Maternal Death 2007).  Several treatments are available, depending on each woman’s individual circumstances, although the pregnancy can never be saved.

The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust believes that the deaths and trauma associated with ectopic pregnancy should be prevented and seeks to both relieve the distress associated with it and provide ongoing support.

The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust strives to:-
-       Raise awareness of the condition within the community of sexually active women and the medical profession
-       Promote Best Practice
-       Provide information about the treatment and condition
-       Provide understanding and support for women during this process.

The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust, therefore, delivers its services through the provision of information, education and support.
