James Taylor gives us his recount of the London Marathon

James Taylor was one of our six Gold Bond team members for the 2013 Virgin London Marathon.
James has given us this great recount of the day:

“The morning started so brightly, a gorgoeus day, everything was looking good but where was the snow and rain I had been training in?!  I wandered around Greenwich Park trying to find everyone else who was running for the trust. But there was no mobile reception, to contact them, so I missed out. I did manage to find Jo and wished her luck before rushing off to the start line.

The race started at 10am. And after 30 seconds of silence for Boston, we started, and 11 minutes later I passed over the line and was on my way. I had a target time in mind and things were going well, until mile 16. My knee just seized up and I limped 10 miles to finish, in agony, and an hour after my target.

But what an incredible day! The crowds were amazing all along the course. Apparently, everyone in London knows my name!

Thanks to everyone who never gave up encouraging and calling out.

Thanks to all those who sponsored me and to the charity, who gave me a chance to raise some money for them.

Also, a little update for us…My wife is expecting again, due 3rd July 2013. So amongst all the turmoil and heartache from last year. Some good news, and proof that it can happen again, so don’t give up.”

Our congratulations to James and to our other Gold Bond team members for their amazing achievement.
