The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust strives to raise awareness and improve the standard of care provided to those who endure an ectopic pregnancy. With limited resources, we rely on the generosity of our kind volunteers who dedicate their time and apply their skills to try to achieve these aims.
Many of us here at the Trust have experienced an ectopic pregnancy and we understand how it can spur us on to want to help others. In this way, volunteering can form part of our path to recovery.
Volunteer roles at the Trust range from crucial “front-line” services such as supporting those who have been affected by an ectopic pregnancy to various administrative tasks for the day-to-day smooth running of the charity. We would love to hear from you, no matter how modest your time commitment and even if you would prefer to help us with our more straight-forward tasks.
If you would like to join our supportive and welcoming team, please take a look at our volunteer policy and complete our volunteer interest form including the details of two referees (known to you for at least two years, not related by blood or marriage and ideally a professional such as a solicitor/barrister/doctor/teacher etc). We would be delighted to hear from you and thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Trust.
Here is a selection of the types of roles which might be available with us at the Trust:
Treasurer: A great opportunity to become Trustee of a National Charity. We would need to register you with the Charity Commission as Treasurer and you would have responsibility, alongside other Trustees, for the governance of the charity. Responsibilities will include attendance at Trustee meetings and all aspects of the accounting at the Charity. This will be from receiving invoices to inputting payments for second authorisation, preparing accounts at year end and ad-hoc reports for Trustee meetings. Currently, we use Excel spread sheets but are looking to move to a professional accounts package. We have between 15-20 debits per month, so the monthly time requirements will be in hours rather than days.
Charity lawyer: Qualified under English law, specialising in Charity Law. (Any P.Q.E. considered). Responsibilities will be occasional and vary according to need, but you’ll be involved in a variety of tasks including reviewing fundraising agreements and arrangements with fundraisers, answering Charity law queries and reviewing our annual report prior to submission. We would brief you in good time to deliver each task and engage you on an ad hoc basis, working flexibly from home.
Photographer: Capture images of our products for our online shop and also assist with on-line content creation.
Grant writer: Produce and manage grant applications. Responsibilities will include identifying grant resources, drafting and submitting grant applications and letters. We would brief you in good time to deliver each task and engage you on an ad hoc basis, working flexibly from home.
Online forum moderator/host: Responding to posts and ensuring that our forums provide safe and accurate information. We have a comprehensive training programme (which is largely conducted remotely), on-going support and regular team calls.
Helpline operator: Operating our helpline or responding to answerphone messages. Would suit volunteer with medical, counselling, social work or similar background/experience and again we have a comprehensive training programme, on-going support and regular team calls.
E-mail or telephone buddy: Providing one-to-one volunteer support to an individual who has been affected by ectopic pregnancy and the role requires training and support.
Fundraising: Organising an event to raise awareness and funds for the Trust.
Project co-ordination/event management: Assisting with organising EPT fundraising events, conferences etc.
Writing/journalistic work: Such as production of our newsletter. Would suit volunteer with editorial skills or background/experience in journalism, copywriting or proof-reading.
Administration: Involves general support for the wider team.
In terms of time commitments, we are genuinely grateful for anything you can kindly offer. To express your interest in volunteering with us, please complete our volunteer interest form.
