Re: Anyone else in the UK still waiting for a fertility referral?

Hi Amx,

That’s really useful thank you! I’m going to give it until the end of the week as that’s the additional 2 weeks she told me the call might come but if I don’t hear anything by Monday I’ll call again.

Thanks!

Re: Anyone else in the UK still waiting for a fertility referral?

Hi Calliepup,

Oh that’s good you’ve managed to get that far so quickly! Good luck with the rest of it.

Yeah we’ve been trying for about 2 years. 2 ectopics and 2 miscarriages later and we thought [censored word] okay something is amiss here.

Anyone else in the UK still waiting for a fertility referral?

Totally not complaining here, I get that COVID has put the NHS under huge amounts of strain (and we’re luckily enough to have that as it is) so things are massively delayed. But just wondering how long people have waited to speak to a fertility specialist? (UK only plz) My doctor referred me on 22nd...

Re: Periods after medical management

Ah sorry to hear about the break up :( Oh no need to take folic acid if you aren’t trying anymore, that was just if if you wanted to keep trying to ttc. Once you are discharged you can start to heal and move on, it’s nice not to think about all these things once it’s done. Good luck with the rest of...

Re: Periods after medical management

Hey, so sorry this happened to you :( was it your first ectopic? Yeah it doesn’t sound like that would be your period as it’s too soo after the shot and they do say that the first bleed you have after the shot (whether it’s one day or 14) is usually to do with the methotrexate not period. I only had...

Re: Fertility specialist referral

Ahh how comes it's on the phone? Because of covid or is that the first step? Good luck!! I got a call to answer 2 random questions (if I was a British citizen and if I'd left the country in the last 6 months - lol) then they said that someone would be in touch within 4 weeks. Guessing that's with a ...

Re: No bleeding after Methotrexate

Hey Reb, Nothing has come through yet, annoyingly I missed the call from my doctor to tell me about the referral so they text me but I wanted to know how long it would take them for the fertility centre to call me but I guess I'll just have to wait. Good luck with your specialist on the 1st July, Fr...

Re: PUL... methotrexate or surgery???

Hi LJC-87, So sorry to hear you are going through your second ectopic, sending lots of love and hugs your way. Totally understand how you feel. I had surgery or methotrexate options presented to me when my pregnancy was diagnosed as ectopic on 1st April this year (after previously having an ectopic ...

Re: Fertility specialist referral

Oh wow our stories are pretty similar then. So sorry you had to go through all that. In a way although the decision felt too final (and obviously wasn't the right choice for me at the time) the idea of having the remaining tube removed made me feel weirdly relieved/better about everything (so I tota...

Re: No bleeding after Methotrexate

Tbh i'm feeling absolutely fine. I was lucky I think, I got some bleeding and bad pain around day 4/5 but then after week 2 I felt almost back to my normal self. My levels were 1.8 on Wednesday so now officially discharged. Have called my doctor to get a fertility specialist referral so fingers cros...

Re: Fertility specialist referral

Oh no that’s so stressful that the doctor removed the blockage but you still ended up having another ectopic!! This is my worry too, I’m tempted by IVF but having the remaining tube still there is scary as it can still be ectopic when with IFV (I think it reduces a little having no tube but you can ...

Re: Fertility specialist referral

Oh that’s useful! So the May appointment was booked for you after your second ectopic or did you have to go through your doc? I only called my doctor yesterday even though I had the ectopic diagnosed on 1st April so hoping I’ll get a call soon for an appointment in May/June. Also, so sorry to hear y...

Fertility specialist referral

Hi guys, I’m in the UK and have just got my doctor to refer me to my local fertility specialist. Annoyingly I missed his call but the surgery text me to say I’ve been referred and that the hospital will be in touch. I know it’s going to differ depending on where you are in the country but how long a...

Re: No bleeding after Methotrexate

Hi Berecca_1384 So sorry to hear about your story, especially as you thought the miscarriage was the initial problem :( I’ve recently just had the all clear after my injection on the 1st April. I did get bleeding but only after day 4/5, it was heavy and felt like a horrible period then went away aft...

Hi Scrubsfan103,

Re: Anyone had an ectopic treated with methotrexate in both tubes?

Hi Calliepup, Glad to hear they are going down now after the 2nd dose - I hope you aren’t too disheartened by the small drop in day 4 to day 7. Seems to take most people a while to drop, especially after having to have a 2nd jab. Finger crossed they continue to drop. How you feeling about it? My day...

Re: Methotrexate - no symptoms

Hi Lra27, It might be that because your levels were so low that maybe it worked quicker and therefore you had less symptoms? Obviously everyone's body deals with it differently. I had mine 8 days ago, had in total two days of feeling really really awful (not consecutively) but mostly feeling okay (j...

Re: Anyone had an ectopic treated with methotrexate in both tubes?

Oh it's such a mind-field isn't it! That's very promising to hear about your friend. I guess the stressful thing is that there's no set way these kind of things will play out for each of us, everyone is different. I hope that it happens like that for us too (obviously with our original ectopics) but...
