Pregnancy after 1 ectopic

Post by AngelP »

Hey all,

Not sure if anyone has experienced this. But I'm getting very scared. I had a ectopic pregnancy back in May 2021 and had my right tube removed. Me and my husband have been trying to convince again. For a week now I have had pains just under my tummy, and the left side just under my stomach. They are sharp pains for approx 20 secs now and then and then they go. My periods are still not due for another 8 days. I'm getting worried if I have another ectopic. Some people have told me it could be implantation pain if you have concieved or maybe because my periods are due soon. I'm just trying not to get scared but it's so difficult.

Dear AngelP,
It is common to feel aches and twinges following ectopic pregnancy when we haven't before as your body has been through a great deal over the last few months. The pain may be due to adhesions (scar tissue that binds two parts of the body together) which form and take some time to settle. Your body may be preparing to ovulate and many women experience ovulation pain when they did not before their ectopic pregnancy - including myself. You also may have a heightened perception because of the sad loss that you have had to go through.
As pain is subjective and I am not medically trained, If you are concerned, please seek medical advice.
I would advise taking a pregnancy test on your expected period. If it is positive and you are experiencing the pain still, please seek medical advice.

Sending much love,
Karen x
