Re: Just went the my ectopic pregnancy
Had some food, feeling a little better and took medication, think I'm going to have to be gentle with myself and not expect to much straight away

I'm so so sorry to hear this has also happened to you. I also found out I was pregnant on Sunday last but I had no pains just went for a six week check up to find I had a rather big lump in my right tube and It had to be removed. I was so terrified when waiting for my operation that it was going to explode and I cant imagine how you're feeling because it's so terrifying knowing that you could die. I feel the same as you very sick, very unwell and dizzy. I think a lot may be the pain meds, but also the shock that you've had. I found it really difficult to go to the toilet also and thankfully after taken laxatives yesterday I went for the first time.I hope you will feel better soon and if you need to talk feel free to contact me as I am feeling how you are feeling now and it's rough. Be strong,
Lauren xx

Re: Just went the my ectopic pregnancy
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
When we experience ectopic pregnancy we are suddenly faced with a life threatening emergency and it's treatment, reduction in fertility, concerns about the future and the loss of our babies. Dealing with one of these is an ordeal putting them together is immense and your feelings are completely normal.
Experiencing an ectopic pregnancy is a huge ordeal and you are in the very early stages of recovery. Your body needs time to heal from your surgery which is in itself a gruelling task. You have also had to process the loss of your baby and been through an immense rollercoaster of emotions - all of this will take time to come to terms with.
We generally advise that you should take it very easily for about six weeks after surgery. Your body will be using its energies to heal internally. It is normal to feel physically and emotionally exhausted during this time and please do be kind to yourself. Recovery can take time and some days will be better than others, one day maybe ok and the next you maybe in discomfort or more emotional. This is perfectly usual and the healing process will go back and forth in this way for how ever long you need. It is important to listen to your body's signals and pain and feeling tired are your body's signs to tell you to rest. We suggest keeping a healthy balanced diet, drinking lots of water and resting. Once your wounds have healed, very gentle exercise such as a short walk can help, but please do take this slowly.
It is normal to experience some pain as you recover over the next few weeks and the bruising is part of the healing process. The discomfort and bruising should reduce over the next few weeks and I would suggest taking the pain relief that has been prescribed for you as directed by your doctors.
Sadly a complication of surgery is infection and if you find that you have an increased body temperature of more than 37°C or offensive smelling discharge or the wound site starts oozing or feels hot to touch, please do get medical attention as soon as possible as these can be signs of infection.
Unfortunately I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific information on your symptoms, cold shakes are a possible side effect of infection as is dizziness and nausea, these however can also be signs of continued low haemoglobin levels and as you had to have blood transfusions, I would advise discussing your symptoms with your GP.
I completely understand how overwhelming all of this can be and we are here for you for as long as you need. Sending much love,
Karen x
