A little advice plz?

Post by Ellieb78 »

Hi All, Its been a while since I was last on here but things have been busy with work and that. I was at the hospital on 24th January to see my consultant and he had prescription some tablets called norethisterone which I needed to take 3 tablets a day for 20 days. I started them the day I should off started my periods. He said the tablets would delay my periods and I would start 3 days after taking the last tablet. He also prescripted clomid which was one tablet a day for 5 days. I would take my first tablet on day 2 of my periods. I didn't get a leaflet with the clomid so I googled it and it said I should ovulate 7 to 10 days after taking my last tablet. To be honest I have no idea what's happening with my body since taking these medicines. My cycle was 37 days but with the delay, I'm not so sure. Recently I've being feeling sick, tired and aching and that. Do you think I could be pregnant or is it just the side effects of medicine? As anyone taking these medicines and felt like this? Any advice would be appreciated.

Dear Ellieb78
I am sorry to hear of the worrying time you are going through. As you rightly say, norethisterone and clomid can both have side effects and according to information I have found via NHS websites these can include:

clomid - headaches, hot flushes, breast discomfort and nausea and irregular bleeding/spotting
norethisterone - breast tenderness, delayed periods

As you have questions as to whether you are pregnant, I would suggest taking a pregnancy test in the first instance. In any event, as you are worried it is always worth speaking to your doctors about your concerns for peace of mind.

I hope this helps.

Munira
