Discomfort 3 weeks after tube removal.

Post by Melissa1987 »

I had my right tube removed just over three weeks ago. For the past few days I've been having discomfort when I push to go to the toilet, this is to pass stools or urine. It is also uncomfortable when I laugh. I have also had Intercourse 3 times now, the third time was uncomfortable when the penetration was deep (sorry if tmi) I have been to the GP who doesn't seem too concerned, but I've got myself in such an anxious state thinking that there is something else wrong and that it's going to affect my remaining tube. I'm so incredibly paranoid now and this is on my mind constantly! I've not really had any info on what is normal to expect after this surgery, so every pain I'm worrying over. Has anyone else experienced the above? I would really appreciate a response. Thank you.

Hi Melissa1987,

I am sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss. It can be a very confusing time and can leave us with worries even years after. Your surgery was very recent, and I will do my best to help.

It can be very normal to feel abdominal pains after treatment for ectopic pregnancy. The pain you are feeling could be due to your body healing or as a result of adhesions or scar tissue which forms as part of the recovery process. It could also be because your menstrual cycle is restarting or because of ovulation pains as many women feel ovulation pains when they did not before. It might also be as a result of heightened awareness after your ordeal.

To assist, you could keep a pain diary too - when you experience the pain and where, its intensity and anything that helps like rest or pain relief, and noting when your period starts. You can take these notes with you to the appointment and the details will help your doctors best manage your symptoms. You can also speak to your doctors sooner, as you mentioned you have, with your concerns as it is always better to get checked out to be on the safe side and as I am not medically qualified to give a definitive opinion.

It's incredibly important to look after yourself right now and allow your body time to rest and heal.

With good wishes,

Michele
