I found out I had an ectopic pregnancy on the 7th of January and since then I was conservatively managed for a few weeks and then ended up having two doses of methotrexate. My last dose of methotrexate was on the 4th of February. My BHCG levels are dropping and I am finally ready to process and move on. However In the past week I have developed colicky cramping pain that comes on randomly! It’s the worst pain ever!
I know it’s not a rupture as I have had this before on a previous ectopic last year but the pain is so bad!
I am very constipated and have tried various laxatives which help but don’t really relieve the cramping pain ! I am also bleeding as the cramping comes on. This isn’t persistent and stops after the cramping resolves.
Is this normal? Is it just related to the methotrexate side effects or is this what they call separation pain.
What can I do to help myself??
I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this.

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancies and losses,
Although it is common for women to experience pain following methotrexate injection and you have mentioned you have had this pain before, as you have said the pain is very bad, I would always advise seeking medical advice. This can be through your GP or if out of hours by calling 111. If the pain and bleeding worsens, I would strongly advise going to your local A&E.
