Bloating 7 weeks after ectopic surgery

Post by LavaLamp2019 »

I am almost 8 weeks post surgery and still look and feel pregnant.
My stomach is huge, so much so I can’t fit into any of my clothes still.
I had my first period post operation last week and my hcg levels have returned to Normal, otherwise I would think I’m pregnant again.
I have rang my GP and they don’t seem overly concerned, they have made me an appointment for if it’s still up in 2 weeks.
I just wondered I anyone else has experienced the same?
It’s really starting to get me down, I still haven’t quite come to terms with the loss (I have stuff in my spare room that was ready for my little one that I can’t bear to look at) and this is just adding to the stress.
I tried to add a picture of my “bump” but it wouldn’t let me.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi LavaLamp2019,

I'm so sorry you are going through this and how hard it can be to recover when we don't feel ourselves or 'back to normal'. It's very good that you've reached out to your GP to be seen, especially as it is causing you concern. Each person's recovery is so unique and it takes our bodies different times to heal. We can feel the effects from surgery longer than we expect or want to. Sometimes they may not go back as they once were, and this too may be part of the grieving process.

Ectopic pregnancies are both physical and emotional traumas and each recovery is unique. It is normal to grieve for what might have been and for what we were preparing. During this time, it's so important to look after yourself and be kind to yourself. Your body has been through a lot, and we will feel many emotions.

Please know that these boards are filled with people who understand. This is a safe space to share your experience, ask questions, or just vent. We are here for you for as long as you need.

With good wishes,

Michele
