Hi,
I’m only 4 days post emergency surgery - I was 8 and a half weeks pregnant, went into A&E after struggling to move and becoming unresponsive. Turns out my pregnancy was ectopic and had ruptured - i’d bled 1.5litres of blood into my abdomen! My right Fallopian tube was removed during surgery and bleeding stopped through keyhole surgery.
I’m home now and slowly recovering, have got 6 weeks off work but I’ve also got a spa day in 3 weeks time - I would be 4 weeks post surgery and really want to relax and pamper myself after everything that has happened over this last weekend.
My question is do you think it’s ok to have a massage and enjoy the sauna?
My incisions are healing well already so I’m really hoping I will be ok - what do you think?

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Sadly I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your questions. I suppose it would depend on where you were having your massage, I would avoid anything abdominal and ensure you are comfortable lying on your abdomen for a length of time for a back massage.
I am not sure about a sauna as it may raise your blood pressure and would depend if your wounds have healed. My advice would to be to speak to the spa about your recent surgery to ask if they are happy for you to use the sauna.
I understand the need to relax and I hope you find some suitable treatments.

Hi,
I was thinking about going into a swim pool and the sea abroad (different from a spa I know) and I’m a week out from surgery and was advised by a pharmacist to not go into either as they still both carry germs, it may be worth the ask from a pharmacist to see what they say.
Like I said pool and sea water is totally different from a spa but hopefully this helps
