Periods after Ectopics?

Post by Ambir »

Hello everyone. I am new to this site and joined in hopes to connect with others who’ve gone through/going through the same.

I have had two miscarriages and two ectopic pregnancies. First Ectopic surgery, my tube was kept after seeing no issues with my tubes. A few weeks later, it was found that the initial surgery to clear the tube wasn’t successful so I went in for a second surgery, tube removed. The next time I was pregnant, it was another ectopic. They took this tube as well for the sake of not having it rupture like the other and having to endure a possible fourth surgery as I was now on my third.

I don’t have my tubes but I do have my ovaries so at some point, when I am ready, we will go through other measures to become pregnant.

I have questions. It’s been over a year since my ectopics and my period pain is substantial. I’ve always had bad periods but they now trump that. Does anyone else experience extremely bad period pain, almost to the point of being debilitating a good amount of time after an ectopic? Is this my new period and what I will always deal with?

Also, sex. Sometimes sex and certain positions m, ones that never hurt before, hurt and are no longer things I can do. Does anyone else experience this too? Is this all normal? New life? Is anyone else experiencing this a year plus after ectopic(s)?

Thank you all

Dear Ambir,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss. To experience one loss is difficult to deal with multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.
Our periods can change following ectopic pregnancy, but they usually do settle into a pattern that's more acceptable to us. As you are experiencing debilitating pain an heavy bleeding, I would advise speaking to your GP.
Painful intercourse could be scar tissue or adhesions and I again, would chat to your GP.
Sending much love,
Karen x
