Ectopic Pregnancy in C-section Scar/Miracle

Post by ragilmore1 »

I was told it was a miracle I was still alive. I did not have any complications, but on that day, I could not rest and begged my doctor for a songram. I was immediately rushed to the E.R., and was told I was blessed to be alive because they did not rupture in my csection scar, which is very rare to hold that long.

I found out I had an ectopic pregnancy in my csection scar on March 11, I was advised the only safe method was methotrexate. I received three injections and as of today I am still producing a positive pregnancy test and my beta levels are going down. I have been hospitalized fours times due to complications, I also had to be taken off work. This has been an emotionally roller coaster for me because I don't know what to expect and I am the first patient my doctors every had with a csection ectopic pregnancy. The unkown is the worse!

My numbers were high when I started and graually going down. The bleeding, crazy discharges, and unknown is the worse thing I ever experienced. I've had four csections and a TIA last year. This is truly the longest miscarriage/lost in history.

This is the worse thing I have ever been through. I just don't understand because they don't know about this either.

Dear ragilmore1,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and losses. To experience one loss is difficult, to deal with multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.
As you have mentioned, C-section ectopic pregnancies are very rare and I am so sorry that you have been through this ordeal but it is encouraging to hear that your levels are reducing.

Many women experience feelings of isolation after an ectopic pregnancy - I did, too. It is a frightening experience. Like you, I reached out to the Trust for support and we will be here for you to lean on for as long as you need.

We at the Trust believe that talking through what happened and your emotions as and when you can helps the healing process. We operate a helpline service and there's no pressure whatsoever but if you would ever like the opportunity to speak over the phone to someone who has been through a similar experience, do feel free to call, details are below. We can take things at your pace entirely and you are free to ask any questions that are on your mind. You can talk about the ordeal you have been through and express your feelings to vent and let off some steam. We can exchange emails too, if you prefer that route. We'll simply be here for you, however you wish and for as long as you wish.

In addition, you can ask to see a GP at your practice and ask them to explore ways in which you can get help and this can include referrals for "talking therapies" or counselling. We have information on our website about finding counselling services.

The charity Mind may also be of assistance. They have local centres and support groups and can offer services on a means-tested basis or sometimes free. You can find your local centre following this link if that may be useful too: http://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/local-minds/

Sending much love and warm hugs,
Karen x

Hi there

I'm really sorry to hear your going through this, I myself have experienced csection ectopics more than once. If you need to chat about anything please dont hesitate to contact me. Csection ectopic pregnancies are rare, and as you say, your lucky to be here. Unfortunately it's one of the ectopics that they dont know much about. I was treated with methotrexate which was injected straight into my abdomen and monitored. Lots of follow up appointments to the epu for blood tests. It took nine months to clear, I was nearly 13 weeks with the first one, no pain or symptoms at all. But everybody is different. I've experienced it again since then. My thoughts are with you and hope you have plenty of support. Ask your doctor to explain everything to you.

Love and healing wishes

Jay
