Help, negative test, low hcg?

Post by HW1311 »

I'm now 4 and a half months post ectopic pregnancy. I had my right tube removed.

We have been trying again and I have taken a test today as my period is 4 days late but the test was negative. I was ovulating on my right side this past cycle so on my tube less side. My cycle length is typically 32 days. I've been having the odd sharp pain on my right side and some back pain but no pains I would usually relate to my period coming. I have also been super emotional. Is it possible I could be pregnant but my hcg levels are not high enough? Or should I be considering talking to a doctor?

Dear HW1311,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Doctors normally consider menstrual cycles of between 23-42 days to be within normal parameters. If you have not had your expected period, we would advise retesting, using an early morning urine sample in a further week, and speak to your GP if you have not had a period or positive pregnancy test at this point.
As you have been TTC, while I do not want to alarm you, if you experience any pain or unusual bleeding, please do get medical attention as soon as you can.
Sending much love,
Karen x
