Hey Lea1983,

I am so sorry to hear that you’re going through this loss. After experiencing my ectopic pregnancy in Aug I found too that finding the right clothes was hardest and made me feel even less confident in my body.

I found trackie pants were they only thing I could wear. But I also had some leggings that I could wear too... it took me probably about 1 week to put clothes on. I wish it was summer as dresses would have been the easy option.

Try and take care of yourself and don’t put too much pressure on yourself to fit back into your clothes, it just takes time.

Sorry to hear you’ve been through this.

I had the same surgery in August and found that high waisted leggings with tunic/dress or loose fitting, soft tracksuit/yoga trousers were the best thing to wear. Although I was in pjs most of the time if I was at home. I had **-section a few years ago and wore the same things as I did after that.

It took me about a week to feel like I was getting ‘better’ and it was easier to find a comfortable position when trying to sleep.

Give yourself time to heal, take it as easy as you can for a while.

Take care xx

Dear Lea1983,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
As the ladies have so kindly replied, wear loose fitting comfortable clothes.

With regards of what to expect, we advise that you should take it very easily for about six weeks after surgery. Your body will be using its energies to heal internally. It is normal to feel physically and emotionally exhausted during this time and please do be kind to yourself. Recovery can take time and some days will be better than others, one day you maybe ok and the next you maybe in discomfort or more emotional. This is perfectly usual and the healing process will go back and forth in this way for however long you need. It is important to listen to your body's signals and pain and feeling tired are your body's signs to tell you to rest. We suggest keeping a healthy balanced diet, drinking lots of water and resting. Once your wounds have healed, very gentle exercise such as a short walk can help, but please do take this slowly.
It is not unusual for women to bleed after treatment for ectopic pregnancy. This first bleed after treatment is a response to falling hormone levels and involves shedding of the uterine lining and is not classed as a period. The length of the bleeding can vary from woman to woman, and some women do report spotting and bleeding for up to around six weeks after an ectopic pregnancy.

Experiencing an ectopic pregnancy is a huge ordeal and you are in the early stages of recovery. Your body needs time to heal from your surgery which is in itself a gruelling task. You have also had to process the loss of your baby and been through an immense rollercoaster of emotions - all of this will take time to come to terms with. We will be here for you for as long as you need.

Sending much love,
Karen x

Hi,

I found that I couldn’t even put trousers on for weeks so I would wear dresses or nighties something that wasn’t around my stomach and bruising I know the weather is rubbish now but I found that most comfortable is loose fitting clothes.

Hope this helps x
