Going crazy

Post by Soph22 »

So I had my surgery early November. I bled straight after. I spent 4 weeks recovering and then started on a contraceptive pill which I only took for 12 days as mentally, I just couldn’t do it. I had a withdrawal bleed around 2 day’s after stopping this.

Now I’m taking ovulation tests and pregnancy tests that are all negative. What’s happening? What am I waiting for? Do I just forget it all and wait for my ‘proper period’ to come back? But how long could it be with all things considering?

Dear Soph22,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Your periods can take a while to re-establish - they can re-start anything between two and ten weeks after surgery and most women find that their period arrives sometime around week six or seven after surgery.
If it has been more than 10 weeks since your surgery, I would advise speaking to your GP. It sounds though like it is just a little early yet though and given more time, your periods should restart.
Sending much love,
Karen x
