lost and confused

Post by Katetheate »

Hi, please read slowly I have dyslexia and my punctuation and spelling maybe a bit off. ( By that i mean a lot :D )
So back in October I had an ectopic caused by a dislodged copper coil, and my ectopic ruptured my right fallopian tube i was rushed into surgery as i was bleeding out and had my tube removed due to damage. I had another coil put back in while in surgery as I requested when they offered, it then became stuck in my cervix, the pain was very uncomfortable and unbearable so they then removed the coil i had several infections that showed up in my urine while my coil was still in place. now its nearly been 3 months since my surgery and about 2 since my coil was removed, But i am still get some discomfort in my right side that sends jolts of pain into my lungs and heart area. IS THIS NORMAL? i don't dare tell my partner this as he tends to become very protective and feels like he needs to sort things out. but I feel that everytime I go to the doctors or the hospital they just dismiss it as normal pains after surgery. The pains get a lot worse after exercise and before and during my period.
so what I am asking is, is any of this normal or is there something wrong? should I be doing something about this?

Dear Kateheate,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss and if the difficult time you are still going through.
Sadly I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your symptoms.
Experiencing some pain after an ectopic pregnancy is normal as your body has been through a great deal over the last few months. The pain may be due to adhesions (scar tissue that binds two parts of the body together) which form and take some time to settle. Your body may be preparing to ovulate and many women experience ovulation pain when they did not before their ectopic pregnancy - including myself. You also may have a heightened perception because of the sad loss that you have had to go through.
If the pain persists, I suggest keeping a pain diary noting when the pain appears, the intensity on a scale of 0-10 and anything that helps the pain eg resting, hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. Visiting your doctors with this information helps them to assess how best to manage your symptoms.
Having said this, if the pain is severe or worsening in any way, I would advise speaking to your GP sooner.
Sending much love,
Karen x

If you find you experience offensive smelling discharge or an increased temperature of more than 37°C or just want to be checked out to be on the safe side, it would be worth asking your doctors to run tests to check for infection.
