Possible ectopic/PUL

Post by Mrsgvd »

Hi

I started bleeding on Wednesday this week at 6+6 and went to the EPU. I was scanned yesterday and they couldn't find any evidence of a pregnancy in my womb and diagnosed a Pul and possible ectopic. They took bloods yesterday and called to say my level was 115. I wasn't Sure if they meant it was 115,000 or if I misheard and he said 1500. I'm bleeding heavily still like a period with mild period cramps (no sharp pain or other symptoms) and am going back on Saturday to have a second blood test.

Obviously the best case would be that it's already dropping but I'm terrified of having to have surgery.

Has anyone else had a PUL or ectopic that reabsorbed? If so what were your blood levels?

Thank you

Hi Mrsgvd,

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this worrying time. I know how anxious it can be not having as much information and certainty as we'd like. It's very good that you are being monitored and I encourage you to take these next days to look after yourself.

As I'm not medically qualified, I cannot comment on your specific symptoms and situation, however, the Trust has quite a bit of information on Expectant Management on their website (https://ectopic.org.uk/patients/treatment/).

As your HCG levels are not yet to non-pregnant levels (below 5ml/UL) it is important to continue taking it easy and monitoring your symptoms. We advise avoiding any heavy lifting or strenuous exercise while your levels are reducing. If you feel any additional or increasing pain, especially to the shoulder tip, or heavy bleeding, please get medical attention from A&E immediately.

These boards are a safe space for you and we are here for you for as long as you need.

With good wishes,

Michele

Yes as per my screen name I had the PUL ectopic thing for a while. mine grew and shrunk for a while (7 weeks) but resolved without medication or surgery. Impacted my mental health though and was a commitment going to the hospital every 48hrs for monitoring not knowing what was happening. Take care of your head. Netflix and chill x

Hi,
I’m in middle of this now - started at 1150 and only went down to 947 as of Wednesday (6 days later). Been told to wait a week and have another blood test next Wednesday. I didn’t have any symptoms other than bleeding. Hoping it falls off a cliff next test!
How did yours go? Did you have a long wait? Did you get any other symptoms? (Sorry for all the questions - yours is the only other story I can find with similar circumstances!) x
