Early pregnancy with severe stomach pains

Post by Amy11 »

My pregnancy test has come back positive (1-2 weeks pregnant), but over the last 48 - 72 hours I have had extremely sharp abdominal pains. They have since subsided but its very tender now. I have read a lot online about stomach pains in early pregnancy - some indicating this as normal pregnancy symptoms and nothing to worry about, and others highlighting the fact this may be something more serious.
I don't have any other symptoms other than the sharp pains, and now tenderness. Any guidance would be so greatly appreciated.

I would definitely speak to your doctor, mine only started as stomach pains, on one side I had no other symptoms and still didn’t until 4/5 days later. It could be normal pregnancy symptoms but it’s better to get it checked out even just to put your mind at ease.

Dear Amy11,
Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,
If you have experienced severe abdominal pain, I would advise seeking urgent medical advice, even if the pain has settled a little.
Sending much love,
Karen x
