How ectopic pregnancy affects subsequent ovulation and perio

Post by Sruthi_Ganesh »

Can anyone please help to understand the menstrual cycle and ovulation after ectopic pregnancy ?.
I am 28 years old and I am married for two years now.I had left ectopic pregnancy in September 2019 and my tube ruptured removed after surgery in the same month..apart from withdrawal bleeding I had two normal and regular cycles after surgery at 34 days interval.Thurd cycle I din get my periods and in the sonogram report I had haemmrohagic cyst.i had meprate tablet and got my periods after that..the fourth cycle which is this month my gynecologist did a follicular study and there were 12 small follicles each side initially.2 follicles grew up to a size of 1cm.but it din grow any further and today is my cycle day 19.My gynecologist prescribed dupasthon tablet for withdrawal bleeding to occur .

I just want to have a clarity on why I did not ovulate when I had two successful periods prior to this. Before ectopic I did not have any kind of problem like this .I had PID previously and that's the reason for my left ectopic. But after ectopic pregnancy why am I not ovulating .please note that my first pregnancy was ectopic and I dont have any ovarian cysts now

I am losing my hope slowly . I am trying to be positive but repeated failures are putting me down.My gynecologist asks me not get stressed which affects ovulation .I have no medical condition now that stops me from ovulating .The only thing left out is stress.please someone give me knowledge about this life after ectopic pregnancy

Dear Sruthi_Ganesh,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss and continued confusing time.

It is true that periods can take a few months to settle into a rhythm that is more normal for us, mine did too.
Periods can be delayed for a number of reasons including stress or even (as surprising as it may sound) excessive exercise or weight loss. Doctors normally consider menstrual cycles of between 23-42 days to be within normal parameters.
Unfortunately I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your queries and I would be guided by your specialist medical team.

Sending much love,
Karen x
