Blood during sex post-ectopic (Laparoscopic) help

Post by G0628 »

Hi everyone,
New poster but since my ectopic 4, almost 5, weeks ago I have frequently come and read these forums for advise and support.
So, my ectopic was found at 9, almost 10, weeks and was partially ruptured requiring a laparoscopic surgery. My partner and I resumed sexual intercourse about 7 days after the surgery after the bleeding stopped as advised by th hospital. It is now almost 5 weeks later and we have started noticing blood during sex. I haven't had a period yet so initially we thought it was my period starting but now it is clear it is just during sex. Not a lot of blood, a small amount.
I've never had blood during sex before. Is this normal from the surgery and actually my body hasn't quite recovered? Should we stop having sex and give my body more time? Could it be a hormonal thing? Or is this really not normal? I'm genuinely freaking out.
For context we are not trying to conceive yet, we are taking precautions. Waiting the 2 - 3 cycles as a minimum as mentally I'm just not there yet after this ectopic.
Any similar experiences, help or advise would be tremendously appreciated x

Dear GO628,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Sadly I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your symptoms.
It maybe that it it is just too early post surgery however there are many reasons why women may bleed after intercourse, so I would advise discussing your symptoms with you GP or medical team.
There is more information on bleeding after intercourse on this NHS website

Sending much love,
Karen x
