Over a year on from Ectopic with Methatrexate management

Post by ElCB »

Hello,

Last year in March I had an ectopic pregnancy, I was fortunate enough it could be managed with methotrexate. I did go through extreme pain at the time one night vomiting from pain and had to spend the night at a hospital. However my levels eventually decreased and I was discharged. I read that for a few months after it’s normal to feel a few niggles at the ectopic sight so didn’t think much of it but even now on a monthly basis il feel a few niggles for a few days in that area, has anyone else experienced this who also has not had surgery?

Thanks!

Dear EICB,
I too experienced pain for some time following methotrexate for me ectopic pregnancy. I was referred by my GP for further investigations and was due to have these when I fell pregnant so never actually found the cause.
As marmoannie, has mentioned it could very well be ovulation pain.
We suggest keeping a pain diary noting when the pain appears, the intensity on a scale of 0-10 and anything that helps the pain eg resting, hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. Visiting your doctors with this information helps them to assess how best to manage your symptoms.

Sending much love,
Karen x
