Pain and bleeding is it normal?

Post by Georgialclancy »

Hi everyone,
I’ve posted recently in regards to my ectopic which I had the methotrexate Injection to treat it.
That was nearly a month ago since then I was discharged from the hospital 3 weeks ago and I’m still experiencing bleeding and the pain on my left side (where the ectopic was) is bad and sometimes I’m in agony

I was told by one of the nurses at the epu that I should wait 4 weeks after I was discharged to then contact my doctor as the bleeding could be something else.

I just wondered if anyone else was in the same position and what you was advised??

I’m trying to avoid going hospital but if I have to then I’ll go
I’m contacting my doctors tomorrow as I don’t feel I should be bleeding for this long.
From the day After I found out I was pregnant 22nd June 2020, I’ve never stopped bleeding and I don’t feel I can take much more.
I thought when my hcg went “normal” I’d be okay but I’m starting to feel really crappy again and that’s just in my body, let along all the mental side

Thank you for reading ladies and I hope you can help me ❤️❤️

Dear Georgiaclancy,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
It can be normal to experience bleeding/spotting up to six weeks after treatment for ectopic pregnancy, however I am not medically trained and if you are concerned I would advise speaking to your GP.

Experiencing some pain after an ectopic pregnancy is normal as your body has been through a great deal over the last few months. Your body may be preparing to ovulate and many women experience ovulation pain when they did not before their ectopic pregnancy - including myself. You also may have a heightened perception because of the sad loss that you have had to go through. If you find you experience offensive smelling discharge or an increased temperature of more than 37°C or just want to be checked out to be on the safe side, it would be worth asking your doctors to run tests to check for infection.
If the pain persists, I suggest keeping a pain diary noting when the pain appears, the intensity on a scale of 0-10 and anything that helps the pain eg resting, hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. Visiting your doctors with this information helps them to assess how best to manage your symptoms. Having said this as you describe the pain as agony, you may wish to speak to your GP sooner.

Sending much love,
Karen x
