Hi Aud82,

First of all so sorry to hear your story. I know it probably won’t help you much but I am currently recovering from a ruptured tube due to an ectopic and lost the tube during the surgery. Sadly I already had another ectopic earlier this year in my other tube which was treated without surgery but even though mine isn’t fully blocked they think like yours, my risks for another ectopic is so high that my gynaecologist advised not to get pregnant normally. Putting us in a similar position. It sucks, there are not really any positive sides to it or words to make it better for us.

Where do you live though? Due to my previous ectopic (and also 2 miscarriages which might have been early resolving ectopics as well) previously I am now under care of the NHS. And my fertility specialist is going to discuss options one of them being IVF in the new year. As far as I have understood due to your situation it can speed up the process from the normal guidelines that you should be trying for 2 years etc etc. I would advice to speak to the specialist who ordered the tube test (was it a Hycosy?) and ask to be referred to a fertility clinic under the NHS so they can review your case and see what is possible? I know funding will depend on where you live and the hospital trust you are under... if you at in a different country than of course I don’t know how things are arranged.

I do hope you manage to get some answers and hopefully one day we will receive our wonders.

Dear Rietje88,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss and your continued concerns.
Unfortunately I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your queries. As Aud82 has mentioned I would speak to your GP about referral to a fertility specialist who can talk about the best options in your case. If you are concerned about becoming pregnant, I would advise speaking to your GP or local family planning unit who can advise you further.

Sending much love,
Karen x
