How safe am I?

Post by NikiA1992 »

Hey everyone,

So i have been feeling crappy for weeks, before christmas there were 2 occasions where i had horrible tummy pains, sickness, diziness and i passed out and then the symptoms went away but i have still been having the odd twinges and dizziness.

I finally went to A+E last Saturday and was admitted to hospital, i had a vaginal scan on monday and they discovered a mass in my left fallopion tube which is 50x37x45mm which i have been told is quite big. I was due to have surgery but after 3 HCG tests which each time have shown my HCG levels decreasing and my lack of pain and symptoms they decided to send me home, telling me to go back if i feel dizzy or have severe abdominal pain.

I'm terrified about this, were they right to send me home with regular HCG tests? Knowing my mass is quite large, if i rupture what are the chances of survival? Any advice or reassurance would be very welcome.

Hi Niki,

Expectant management is becoming more and more common, where it's safe to do so, but don't be afraid to contact your EPAU and ask questions if you need to.

If you experience increasing pain, dizziness or heavy bleeding - in fact, if you experience any signs of a rupture, get yourself to a hospital. It's better to be safe than sorry. With medical help, almost all women in the UK survive a ruptured ectopic - I did 3 weeks ago.

Dear NikiA1992,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Expectant management is a known treatment method for ectopic pregnancy. Your EPU should have given you a number to call with any worsening symptoms.
We have more information on treatment options here and if you are finding it too emotionally challenging, please also speak to your medical team about this.

Hi!

I've experienced similar episode in October 2020.
Just want to reassure you the mass is really getting reabsorbed. Mine got all the way from 100×26×38 (October) to 36×17×27 (January). I'll have next scan soon so can update later.
