Ovarian Ectopic Pregnancy

Post by Dln »

Hello,
I am new on here.

I was just after information in regards to ovarian ectopic pregnancies as they seem to be very rare.

I experienced this a few weeks ago and had surgery to remove the tissue around my ovary. Luckily i didnt have anything removed.

I have been having weekly blood tests to see if the hormone has gone from my body but today it has gone up from 250 to 280.

I did a pregnancy test on Wednesday which was negative so i assumed it had all gone and had sex (for the first time since this happened)

I am now concerned as to why it would go up and the nurse is thinking i may need the injection to get rid of the rest.

Does anybody have any knowledge as this is all pretty new to the nurses at our small hospital.

TIA

Dear Din,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
You are correct in saying that ovarian ectopic pregnancies are very rare so it will be difficult to find research and information.
Following ectopic pregnancy, it can take a few weeks for hCG levels to fall to non pregnant levels. Your surgery was a month ago and it maybe possible that blood tests are still showing hCG from ectopic pregnancy. However, as I am not medically trained I am unable to comment on why they seem to be rising and you are doing right thing in speaking to your doctors.
Although I do not wish to alarm you, as your levels are rising, I would like to gently remind you to seek urgent medical attention if you experience any unusual bleeding/pain/increased body temperature.
Your medical team will be able to advise on the best course of action as they will know your full medical history.

I hope your levels settle soon and I am sending much love and warm hugs,
Karen x
