Pains from surgery

Post by D2020 »

Hello,

I'm about 7 weeks from laparoscopic removal of ruptured tube. The wound sites look like they are healing ok but I am still getting pain inside that area and not just at the time I would be ovulating. Could this be nerve pain?

I am also not able to wear anything other than loose trousers as can't tolerate anything sitting on or above the belly button area.

Has anyone else experienced this and roughly how long before these pains ease?

Is it usual to feel so tired 7 weeks on? I seem to be needing a lot of sleep and from not doing a great deal.
I am taking iron given by the hospital to boost me from the blood loss. I have been told my bloods are in range now but to continue the iron for another few months.

Thank you

Hiya

I’m 5 weeks post op and have similar issues you’re not alone!

I’m absolutely shattered and have come on my period yesterday. It’s agony at the site where the pregnancy was and my belly button down to my bikini line is so so tender it’s like I’m still bruised. The bleeding is also like nothing I’ve ever experienced and I do suffer with heavy periods the best of times.. have you found this to be the case?

I’ve been left wondering what’s normal and what’s not. I like details so I know what to expect and with no follow up I have just felt a bit lost.

I’m sorry for you feeling sore and confused but also relieved I’m not alone. Xxxx

Im sorry to hear you are also suffering but is reassuring to hear I'm not alone with this. Our bodies are probably trying to get back into a usual cycle and still healing I guess. I just didn't expect it to take so long.

I started bleeding the day after my surgery which they say is not a true period...this was heavy and lasted a while.
Oddly my real period came 2 weeks later and was slightly heavier than usual for the first few days. I do generally have heavy periods too x

Hi ladies,

I am 3 months post op and still have the worst pains on the left side where I had my tube removed. It’s like a burning/stinging inside. Just wondered how you were both doing x

Dear D2020,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Experiencing some pain after an ectopic pregnancy is normal as your body has been through a great deal over the last few months. The pain may be due to adhesions (scar tissue that binds two parts of the body together) which form and take some time to settle. Your body may be preparing to ovulate and many women experience ovulation pain when they did not before their ectopic pregnancy - including myself. You also may have a heightened perception because of the sad loss that you have had to go through. If you find you experience offensive smelling discharge or an increased temperature of more than 37°C or just want to be checked out to be on the safe side, it would be worth asking your doctors to run tests to check for infection.
If the pain persists, I suggest keeping a pain diary noting when the pain appears, the intensity on a scale of 0-10 and anything that helps the pain eg resting, hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. Visiting your doctors with this information helps them to assess how best to manage your symptoms.

Sending much love,
Karen x
