Ectopic in each tube

Post by Yewtreetwo »

Hello there,

I am 34 and having my second ectopic pregnancy. I had my first 3 years ago and had to have my left tube removed. I've just had surgery for a ruptured ectopic on my right side, which was taken out without removing the tube, but there is significant damage. We're now facing IVF almost certainly, but as I still have a partially viable tube I am very worried any successful attempts will be ectopic again.

Has anybody had success with a similar history?

Wishing you all well,

Natalie x

Dear Natalie,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancies losses. To experience one loss is difficult, to deal with multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.
Unfortunately I am not medically trained and I would speak to your medical team about possible damage to your remaining tube. Importantly early scans avail. As soon as you know you are pregnant, contact your local EPU to inform them and book in for an early scan at around six weeks. Remind them of your previous ectopic pregnancy. This self refer route is the best route in our view. Hopefully you will have some comfort to know you are under the radar of medical professionals right away.

Sending much and warm hugs,
Karen x
