Periods after ectopic

Post by Cpearce21 »

I had an ectopic period in nov’20 and was treated with methotrexate, my first period came five weeks later and was normal for me however more painful, since then my following periods have been regular and painful, however I started my period today but it had been lighter than usual almost a pink discharge with occasional dark red blood but still with agonising stomach cramps, I took a pregnancy test to rule that out with it coming back negative, I don’t know if it’s me being paranoid but all I seem to do is spend most of my time searching the internet for explanations into why my period could be like this, but all that I can’t find is Info relating to periods after surgery, I know it’s probably my body just getting back to normal but I just can’t get it out of my head that there could be somthing wrong with me, if there’s anyone who’s been through similar after their ectopic, any information or advice would be really appreciated x

Dear Cpearce,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Periods can take quite a few months to get back into a rhythm that is more normal for us, mine certainly did.
Unfortunately I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your queries. I would advise speaking to your GP with any concerns, especially if you are worried about your current period.
Sending much love,
Karen x
