Periods 4 months after ectopic

Post by Stayls89+ »

Hi all,

Just seeing if anyone has had the same experience and what is normal really. Had my ectopic start of December last year, treated via injection. Anyway now I seem to get tissue and big clots when I go to the toilet. I’ve been for checks, the hsg test etc and they said everything is ok. I just don’t understand why I keep getting the clots, they aren’t small either. I always have a hot water bottle for the first day as I have always had bad cramps, I know it’s silly but surely that’s not causing them. We have been TTC for 2 months and every month I feel strange after ovulation. I’m so confused and fed up of it all, it’s mentally draining x

Dear Stayls89+,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss and continued concerns.
Unfortunately I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your symptoms.
I presume you mean you are passing clots during your periods. My periods certainly changed after my ectopic pregnancy and it could be that your periods may be heavier than they were previously. It is good to hear that you have had some investigations but I understand how frustrating it is when we don't get answers.
With regards to trying to conceive following ectopic pregnancy, the amount of time it takes varies from couple to couple. Factors include age, general health, reproductive health and how often you have sex, among other things. It may be comforting to know that 65% of women are successfully pregnant within 18 months of experiencing an ectopic pregnancy and some studies suggest this rises to around 85% after two years.

I would suggest perhaps seeing if your symptoms settle in the coming months and if they don't or you are concerned, speaking to your doctor's again.

Sending much love,
Karen x
