Hi Chloe93,

I'm so very sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss. It can be a very confusing time and brings up so many emotions which we may not have expected. You have suffered physical and emotional trauma, and right now, it is so important to look after yourself.

I'm not medically qualified to comment on your specific situation. However, surgery is a large procedure and causes changes in our body. Often it takes some time for surgery scars to heal, both internal and external. It's important to remember that there is nothing you did to cause or could have done to stop an ectopic pregnancy.

Right now, the most important thing to do is to look after yourself. There is no set recovery or set timeframe for recovery. As every women is unique, we all process it in different ways. Some days are better and some days are harder. Over time, the initial feelings may fade, but we don't forget. It's important to take the next steps in your own time, whether that be visiting a fertility clinic or ttc. Your well-being is the most important thing right now.

We are here for you for as long as you need.

With good wishes,

Michele

Hi Chloe. I have exactly the same with my belly button. For me, I hate that there's a physical reminder there of what I've been through and it makes me very self-conscious. My surgery was only quite recent, but a friend of mine had the same surgery months ago and hers has returned almost completely to how it was pre-surgery. I think it probably varies woman to woman but I'd say there's definitely hope for us! I also think you will be far more aware of it than anyone else.
I hope you're doing as well as you can be x

Hey cat, thank you for your reply. Honesty it's so upsetting I'm the same it's a constant reminder I only had my surgery on the 7th this month so a week 2 days I just hope our belly buttons go back to normal. I was already self conscious with my body and this makes it even worse. I wasn't even aware they was going to touch my belly button because I had a lap and dye in 2016 and it was under it so I thought they would of cut through the same place again.. I have took my stitches out myself the other two places they cut open because they tyed it so tight it was uncomfortable and started to turn red and itchy.. How are your other incision healing? Xx
