Tube damaged?

Post by Amx »

I had an ectopic pregnancy 3 weeks ago and originally they said it would be better to remove the tube as it was probably damaged anyway but then another dr said no it should be ok with methotrexate. Now a different dr has said it probably is damaged and that is why it happened and a high chance of it happening again. I’m so confused and worried about it happening again. Should I have just had it removed if it’s damaged anyway or could it heal itself?

Hi Amx,

I am so sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancy and loss, and that it remains such a confusing time. Unfortunately, I'm not medically qualified to comment on your specific situation. It is good that you are being seen by medical professionals, and I would encourage you to continue with the conversation. It may be worthwhile noting down the questions you have and bringing them with you to the next appointment. It is such a confusing and emotional time that having conflicting advice can add to the emotions. Ensuring that you have the time and opportunity to ask your specific questions is one way to help manage through the confusion.

However, while many health care professionals provide excellent levels of care, sadly we do sometimes come across instances where the care is not as we would expect. I'm sorry that you have had to go through this. In terms of your circumstances, you may be aware that you can raise your thoughts via the Patient Advice and Liaison Service or PALS. You can find your local PALS here and it may be an avenue which can help:

Know that we are here for you throughout your recovery, whether you have questions or want to vent. We are here for as long as you need it.

With good wishes,

Michele
