Advice needed

Post by Stayls89+ »

Hi, I was just hoping if you could help me. Me and my partner had an ectopic in December last year. I have been tested a lot and everything has come back good, he has been tested and is morphology has come back not as good as it should be. Would this be the reason we had the ectopic? I’m not trying to shift blame but I’m so scared of it happening again I don’t know what to do. I guess I’m looking for the reason to try and move on from it I really don’t know. We have been ttc for 4 months now and no luck. But each month I feel strange I don’t know if it’s all in my head

Hi Stayls89+,

I'm so sorry to hear you have suffered an ectopic pregnancy and loss. While I'm not medically qualified to comment on your specific situation, I do want you to know that many women experience a mix of feelings and this can include grief, hurt at loss and anger. Trying not to blame yourself is important, as it is no fault of yours, and nothing sadly, could have been done from stopping the ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage from happening.

Often the precise reason for an ectopic pregnancy may never be known. Sadly, there is nothing that can be done to guarantee that it will never happen again and it isn't because of something you did or didn't do (or your partner). Many women find ttc and future pregnancies to be an anxious time following an ectopic pregnancy and loss. These feelings are made more difficult during this pandemic. Right now, it's so important to be gentle with yourself. You may be feeling many emotions from your previous experiences.

We at the Trust believe that talking through what happened and your emotions as and when you can helps the healing process. We are more than happy to talk with you on the email or telephone you and answer any questions you may have or simply listen about your experience. In addition, you can ask to see a GP at your practice and ask them to explore ways in which you can get help and this can include referrals for "talking therapies" or counseling. The charity, Mind, may also be of assistance. They have local centres and support groups and can offer services on a means-tested basis or sometimes free. You can find your local centre following this link if that may be useful too: http://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/local-minds/.

Please know that we are here for you anytime - to ask questions, to share or just to vent.

With good wishes,

Michele
