Pregnancy after ectopic

Post by Charlyg »

Hi everyone,
In April I suffered from an ectopic and required surgery to remove my right Fallopian tube. Yesterday I found out that I am 4 weeks pregnant, we are absolutely delighted but I am also so so scared of anything happening again. I feel like it’s going to be such a hard time until we can get scans etc and find out if everything is ok. I plan to contact the early pregnancy unit when they open tomorrow and go from there but I just feel like I will never fully be able to be happy or get excited because of the fear of something going wrong again 😔

Hi Congratulations on your positive test also sorry you had an ectopic but its amazing you fell pregnant so soon, it gives me hope. Im currently 7 and a half weeks post tube removal surgery for my ectopic and so keen to start trying again but also so so scared.
Do you mind me asking did you wait the full 3 months before trying again?

I know it must be so so hard not to worry but please do try and stay positive you have a 90% chance of a healthy pregnancy in the right place. Do contact the epu for advice but i think they do like to try and wait to scan you till 6 weeks so they can see a heartbeat etc ( unless you have ectopic signs)
I will keep everything crossed for you. Xx
🤞🏼

Oh I’m so sorry to hear you had to go through it too. If I’m honest we just carried on trying straight away, I know it isn’t recommended but I was just so desperate to get our happy ending. Fingers crossed 🤞 that it happens very soon for you. And thank you, i will try not to worry 😊 xx

Dear Charlyg,
Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,
After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. When I next fell pregnant, my mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have friends here who understands how you are feeling.

Speaking from UK medical practice and standards, usually doctors carry out an internal transvaginal scan at around six weeks with subsequent pregnancies after an ectopic. This is because there is a reasonable chance of seeing an embryo around this six week mark.
We advise contacting your local EPU, reminding them of your ectopic pregnancy and booking an appointment. If you are unable to self refer, contact your GP who will be able to do this for you.s

Sending much love and positive thoughts,
Karen x
