Pelvic inflammatory disease

Post by _SBKM »

Has anyone been diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease or Fitsz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome?

I’ve had ongoing issues since my surgery which are symptoms of both these diseases

Dear SBKM,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss.
Pelvic inflammatory disease is a broad umbrella term for infections of the upper genital tract including womb, ovaries and tubes. They can often be diagnosed through having vaginal swabs taken. A lot are caused by sexually transmitted infections and can cause symptoms of tummy pain, but can be easily treated with antibiotics.
I'm afraid I haven't heard of Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome, but a little search identifies that it is a rare complication of pelvic inflammatory disease causing tummy pain, chills, fever and tiredness.
I have found some information here-
https://rarediseases.info.nih.gov/disea ... s-syndrome

Of course surgery can cause is to have tummy pain and tiredness for up to six weeks. This is completely normal. Unfortunately I am not medically trained so would advise speaking to your GP or medical team with any concerns.

Sending much love,
Karen x
