Impatient

Post by Brittnieaj »

I am currently on week 3 of methotrexate and I am truly struggling. I can’t sleep very well because I am very anxious. My levels are 1250 down from 2500 7 days ago. I feel like I still have a high chance of rupture and it’s affecting my day to day life. Work, sleep, being a mom, etc. has anyone else dealt with this? How did you get through? I talk to my partner but I can’t shake it.

I am also anxious because I drank alcohol a couple times last week. I did not realize I wasn’t supposed to.

I just want normalcy. I’m drained.

Hi Brittnieaj,

I am so sorry to hear that you have suffered this ectopic pregnancy and loss. An ectopic pregnancy is often such a surprise, and disruptive to the dreams that we had started to consider when learning of our pregnancy.

I am very glad to hear that the MTX shot has been working. But I know how difficult it is to keep up with life, work, and motherhood as you are going through treatment and experiencing anxiety. Please continue to look after yourself and rest. This is especially important until you reach non-pregnant HCG levels, which is under 5. Any sudden increases in symptoms until that point should be seen by your doctors, especially heavy bleeding or shoulder tip pain.

We at the Trust believe that talking through what happened and your emotions as and when you can helps the healing process. We are more than happy to talk with you on the email or telephone you and answer any questions you may have or simply listen about your experience. In addition, you can ask to see a GP at your practice and ask them to explore ways in which you can get help and this can include referrals for "talking therapies" or counseling. The charity, Mind, may also be of assistance. They have local centres and support groups and can offer services on a means-tested basis or sometimes free. You can find your local centre following this link if that may be useful too: http://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/local-minds/.

Be kind to yourself in your recovery. We suffer both physical and emotional trauma through ectopic pregnancy, and it can take some time to feel back to ourselves. Please know we are here for you for as long as you need.

With good wishes,

Michele
