Methotrexate

Post by Viain »

Hey guys

So I have had 2 ectopics in the last year first was treated with surgery second in August was treated with Methotrexate. Since the injection I don’t feel myself in the sense of making silly mistakes at work and feeling a bit cloudy and struggle to concentrate just feeling a bit scatty. Wondered if anyone else has experienced this it might be completely unrelated but I can’t help but think it’s since the injection

Dear Viain,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancies and losses. To experience one loss is difficult, to deal with multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.
Unfortunately I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your symptoms, I am not aware of methotrexate causing long term symptoms such as this, so I would advise speaking to your GP or medical team if you are concerned.
It has only been a short space of time since your ectopic pregnancy and as well as having methotrexate treatment you are also having to deal with the emotions of losing your baby. This can all lead to fatigue, sleep disturbance, stress and anxiety, which can all also lead to the symptoms you describe. If any of this rings true, I found information o n mindfulness really helpful and these can be found on NHS websites. You may just need longer for recovery and cutting back on any additional stressors at work or home may help.
These symptoms may also be a sign of low blood count or anaemia, so if you continue to feel this way, please seek medical advice.

Above all be kind to yourself and allow time to grieve, to heal both physically and emotionally.
Sending much love,
Karen x
