Folate supplement

Post by Faris »

Hi all,

I'm after some advice on taking folate supplements following methotrexate, after my hcg levels have returned to 0.

Did you go for an over the counter supplement, or did your doctor prescribe you something with a higher mg?

I started to take pregnacare at 0 hcg which has normal folic acid dose in it. I then asked gp to test my folate after 3 months to check it was normal before trying again. It was at a normal level!

dear Faris,
Unless you have been informed otherwise by your medical team, I would advise taking the usual pre pregnancy dose of folic acid for 12 weeks before trying to conceive.
Information on dosages recommend by the NHS can be found here-

Hope this helps,
Sending much love,
Karen x
