Periods.

Post by MarieLouise-1991 »

I had ectopic surgery on the 3rd sep 2021 had my right tubes removed, my first period came bang in end of 5th weeks beginning of week 6. Was like my usual period so to say stared off with on off brown spotting then the usual bright red for a few days then stopped. I’m now currently on my second period but it’s totally not like my normal started off with the one off brown spotting again with fresh pale pink here and there, to then one day of normal flow of bright red, then back to on off spotting red and pale pink. Is this normal or something to do with my hormones.? I want to try for another baby but want to make sure everything is okay first.

Dear MarieLouise,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Periods can take a few months to get back a pattern and flow that is more normal for us. This is one of the reasons why we advise waiting for two menstrual cycles. It is important to allow time for your body to recover and emotions to surface and be worked through. This is so that you have some comfort that your body is returning to its natural rhythm and you have a last menstrual period date from which to date a new pregnancy - key information in checking you are not suffering from an ectopic pregnancy in the future.

Sending much love,
Karen x
