Ectopic rupture

Post by Hollief93 »

Hi everyone im new here 😊

Glad to have found you all
I had a ectopic rupture on the 8th of November which i had keyhole surgery to remove the left tube and pregnancy on the 10th of november.

I have two children aged 6 and 1 and cant shift the feeling of guilt as i cant do much with them at the minute due to recovering.

My wounds are healing nicely but still very tight and tender which is to be expected :( dont have a follow up with the hospital or doctor but will be receiving my letter from pathology with the results of their findings which im dreading as im already still very emotional from the surgery

I dont really know the reason for posting this maybe just to speak to people that are maybe feeling the same way

Hi Hollief93,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss. You have been through a huge amount in such a short space of time. Suffering from an ectopic pregnancy is both a physical and emotional trauma, and it requires time to recover.

Being in the early stages of recovery, your body needs time to heal from your surgery which is in itself a gruelling task. You have also had to process the loss of your baby and been through an immense rollercoaster of emotions - all of this will take time to come to terms with.

You should take it very easily for about six weeks after surgery. Your body will be using its energies to heal internally. It is normal to feel physically and emotionally exhausted during this time and please do be kind to yourself. Recovery can take time and some days will be better than others, one day you may be ok and the next you may be in discomfort or more emotional. This is perfectly usual and the healing process will go back and forth in this way for however long you need.

It is important to listen to your body's signals and pain and feeling tired are your body's signs to tell you to rest. We suggest keeping a healthy balanced diet, drinking lots of water and resting. Once your wounds have healed, very gentle exercise such as a short walk can help, but please do take this slowly.

Thank you for sharing your experiences, you are among friends here who understand what you have been through and how you are feeling and we will be here for as long as you need,

With good wishes,

Michele

Hi, I went through the same thing on 11th November, in theatre within 3 hours of learning of the rupture. Just wanted you to know you are not alone going through this. X

I also went through this on 11th November and identify with a lot of the feelings described by Hollie. It’s really helpful for me to hear about your experiences. Thanks for sharing.
