First bleed after surgery

Post by evo230 »

Got diagnosed after an a&e trip and subsequent follow up blood tests with a six week ectopic pregnancy. This was my first ever pregnancy. Was rushed in for emergency surgery as it started to rupture.
Everything happened so quick.
I’ve experienced the first bleed starting one day after the surgery and returning home - I know it’s not a period and the bleed seems a lot redder and kinda watery in comparison but I’ve love to know how long other peoples bleed were like to kinda prepare myself for what to expect.
After an initial heavy day and evening did you experience any heavy bleeds/days again, how long did it last for?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
It’s all very overwhelming - recovery from surgery is tough without the mental toll of what has occurred.

Everything happened so quick and they removed my R tube.

Dear evo230,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
As you have rightly said, the first bleed that occurs after treatment for ectopic pregnancy is not classed as a period. The bleeding can be clotty or like one of your usual periods, or lighter, they are all different. Some women have bleeding/spotting for up to six weeks.
Sending much love,
Karen x
