Repeated Ectopics from IVF?

Post by ca_ganesha »

Has anyone had ectopic as a result from IVF/FET?
And if so, what has been the outcome of any FETs following the ectopic?

I had an ectopic pregnancy result from my first IVF/FET.
I was treated with Methotrexate injection.

I am beyond anxious my next FET will result in another ectopic - resulting in repeated trauma, and losing both my tubes.
Are there any success stories out there, or should I expect the worst?

Just wondered if you have an update from this at all? We've had one successful pregnancy through IVF and are having an ectopic loss after FET and wondering whether to try again. X

Dear ca_ganesha,
It is natural to be worried after everything you have been through. Sadly even with IVF there is the risk of ectopic pregnancy and as you have suffered the condition, there is sadly an increased risk. However it is important to remember that help is available and your doctors should book you in for an early scan at around six weeks to check that the embryo is in the right place. I am not sure where you are located but if you are in the UK you can also contact your local Early Pregnancy Unit direct and self refer for an early scan. This can also give you peace of mind that you have the care available should you need some reassurance.

We do hear from women who successfully conceive following IVF/FET and I will keep sending positive thoughts.
Sending much love,
Karen x
