Periods after EP

Post by Abbie »

Hello everyone!

I am now due my 2nd cycle after my EP surgery, I had my right Fallopian tube removed. My first cycle arrived 26 days after the initial bleed from surgery, before surgery I was normally 28 days. I am now in day 30 and no periods? Has anyone else had irregular cycles after surgery?
We did have unprotected sex but I would have been day 21 and 22 which I woudnt think would be possible to be pregnant? I am too scared to take a test because I am not ready to be pregnant again. Please help an extremely anxious Members out??? Thanks

Hi Abbie,

I'm sorry you are going through such a worrying time. As I'm not medically qualified, I am not able to comment on your particular situation. However, many women experience changes to their menstrual cycles after an ectopic pregnancy, and it can take some time to settle back into a rhythm that is more usual for you. Periods can be heavier or lighter or more painful than before - as we are so individual, there isn't necessarily a set pattern. Doctors consider menstrual cycles of between 23-42 days to be within normal parameters.

I know you may feel some anxiety, but you may want to take a pregnancy test, and if you are trying, the Trust recommends taking folic acid 12 weeks before ttc. I also always recommend checking in with your GP as it is causing you concern and for peace of mind.

With good wishes,

Michele

Hi everyone,
New to this site and suffered an ectopic in May and had Methotrexate management - required 2 injections.
HCG level at zero at the beginning of August and I’m really unsure when my 1st period should be expected.

I’ve read that it says 8-10 weeks but unsure if that’s post treatment or after the HCG reaches zero.

Really hope you guys may have the answer to this.

Thanks
Becci

I would think when you've hit 0 as before that your body wont have processed what happened.
