Irregular bleeding

Post by Tara2 »

Hi,
I’m just wondering if anyone has experienced irregular bleeding after an ectopic ? It’s been 8 weeks since I had surgery and my left Fallopian tube removed I had a bleed following the surgery then my first period after 5 weeks , 3 weeks later I’ve started bleeding again. My periods have never been irregular before ?
Also, did anyone have a follow up after surgical management for an ectopic I haven’t heard anything from the hospital since discharge and haven’t received my biopsy results ?
Thank you in advance Everyone

Yeah unfortunately, sorry for your troubles recently.. I had my eptopic in June, had a short bleed the week after, my period a month later, slight spotting 3 weeks after then nearly 2 weeks of nothing an now I've been slightly spotting again an my period was due 9 days ago now. I took a test 2 weeks ago which was neg, after I spotted the first time. To be sure. But still annoying would like my Flo to go back to normal now 🙄

Dear Tara2,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Periods can take a while to get back to a rhythm that is more usual for you. I also found that my periods changed for a few months after my losses, this is normal after our bodies settle down from the ordeal.

If you had a salpingectomy (fallopian tube removed) no follow-up is needed although some hospitals ask you to return for an outpatient appointment about 6 weeks after surgery to ensure that your tummy has healed properly and to answer any questions you may have. If you are not offered a follow-up appointment, your GP would probably like to see you at around 6 weeks, or before you return to work, to undertake a postoperative check to make sure that you are healing well.

Sending much love,
Karen x

Thank you for your replies , that’s reassuring as I felt like what is wrong with my body now , especially as I’ve always been so regular. I didn’t bleed too much after the op maybe just for 7-10 days then had a period after 5 weeks so just assumed my body would go back to normal with my periods. We wanted to try again after my second period (which was due this coming Sunday) but feel like we can’t do it unprotected when my cycle hasn’t sorted itself out ! It’s more spotting atm than a period, body doesn’t feel my own, I just want my cycle back.
Thank you again for the reassurance.
