Gas pain after surgery
Hi all. I had key hole surgery on Monday and they also removed my right tube. I know that they fill you with gas, just wondering how long it lasted everyone. The pain from my shoulders has gone but my stomach still looks and feels so bloated and uncomfortable. Thank you

Mine lasted about two weeks. I felt like it was never going to go away, but it did eventually

Ditto. I finally managed to put my skinny jeans back on 10 days after surgery. Until then I’d been too swollen and it would have been uncomfortable.

I'm two weeks in and still very bloated. It gets to night time and I look heavily pregnant!! My sister in law is a surgeon and has said this is totally normal, but to do exercises (lying on back and bringing knees to chest) every day to help it go down.

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss.
Bloatedness is a reaction to the operation and the inflammation following this. The length of time it continues varies, but it should settle within six weeks. If it continues for longer it may be a sign that you have some ongoing infection and you should see your GP.
We generally advise that you should take it very easily for about six weeks after surgery. Your body will be using its energies to heal internally. It is normal to feel physically and emotionally exhausted during this time and please do be kind to yourself. Recovery can take time and some days will be better than others, one day you maybe ok and the next you maybe in discomfort or more emotional. This is perfectly usual and the healing process will go back and forth in this way for however long you need. It is important to listen to your body's signals and pain and feeling tired are your body's signs to tell you to rest. We suggest keeping a healthy balanced diet, drinking lots of water and resting. Once your wounds have healed, very gentle exercise such as a short walk can help, but please do take this slowly.

Mine lasted exactly a week after surgery and was more painful then anything else I experienced. Strangely fizzy refresher sweets eased the pain! I know it's an odd suggestion! Xxx

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.
I too had the keyhole to remove an ectopic and my right tube in December. I found peppermint really helped for the gas pain, capsules or even drinking peppermint tea x
