Am I receiving the right “treatment”

Post by Lou186 »

Hello,
I’m concerned as to whether I am receiving the right treatment, or lack of.
I first test positive on 10th December.
Had a private scan on 3 January (7 weeks) - revealed pregnancy of unknown location and referred to EPU. Vaginal bleeding at week 4 and 7.
EPU scanned and confirmed nothing in womb, blood tested every 48 hours for the past 8 days.
HCG 735 and for the first 3 blood tests increased each time by 5-10%.
Today they were suppose to blood test and proceed with MTX. Blood test showed a decrease but only by 8% and so they have asked me to wait a further 4 days and blood test again with no treatment.
After my appointment this morning, I have had severe cramping today and shooting pain through my rectum and it hurts to toilet (1&2) they said just to keep an eye on it :?: I was hoping I may start bleeding but 4 hours on, nothing.

Dear Lou186,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss,
Unfortunately I cannot give specific medical advice but the pain you are describing definitely needs further investigation. If you have not been seen with these symptoms and were given advice over the telephone, I would press for an appointment where they can see you and complete any further investigations such as further scans or bloods. If the pain continues or worsens, I would advise seeking urgent medical advice and if the SPY is closed, attend A&E, being sure to tell them that you have been diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy and now have severe pain.

We will be thinking of you and sending much love,
Karen x
