pain in ectopic side

Post by natashaxox »

Hi everyone

I had an ectopic in March and was treated with one dose of methotrexate. I am now 9 days into the dreaded “2 week wait” however have noticed over the last couple of days I’ve been experiencing pain in the ectopic side like slight cramping but was pretty painful.

I’m scared that it’s happening again, I’ve had no other symptoms other than this but I just can’t stop thinking that it might be happening again. Has anyone else had anything similar?

thank you

Dear natasha,
You mention that you are 9days into the dreaded 2 week wait. I am presuming from this that you mean you have had a positive pregnancy test and are now waiting for your scan?
If this is the case and you have been experiencing pain in your stomach, It is important that you seek urgent medical advice. If the pain is severe, you need to attend A&E.
We often get pains and twinges when we next fall pregnant, I did too. I think it is natural to have a heightened awareness after everything we have been through. It is however very important to get these symptoms reviewed by a medical team, just to be on the safe side. Please also remind them of your previous ectopic pregnancy.

Sending much love,
Karen x

Hi Karen

Thank you so much for getting for getting back to me. I don’t think I explained myself in my previous message as by the dreaded 2 week wait I meant that I’m currently 9dpo and having to wait until I can do a test to find out if I have fallen pregnant. It’s our first month being able to ttc again and like you said every twinge I am being super sensitive to. I know it’s definitely too early to be having pregnancy symptoms at 9dpo but the pain I had in the ectopic side has really scared me and I don’t know what to think or if it’s normal to feel pain there whether or whether not this turns out to be my month.

I hope that makes sense and sorry for any confusion!

Xx

Hey,

I'm going through something similar.

I had an ectopic last December, it ended after 12 weeks in march, loads of bleeding and horrid pain. This was through ivf. I tried again in April it failed but I was taking hormones and I felt twinges in my hips, mostly in my ectopic side and like you before my BFN I was concerned.

Tried again and I'm 4 weeks 5 days pregnant but for over a week I've had a light pain in my ectopic side, nothing severe only lasts 5mins a day. I don't know if it's the hormones im taking, could be the excess gas trapped in my side im very gassy from pregnancy hormones, could be a weakness there, some pregnant women harmless pain their side or could be ectopic again I don't know. My hcg is slowly rising.

If I were you I would start testing with early detection pregnancy tests, see if you are pregnant. Then you can call the early pregnancy unit, they have to monitor you if you've had an ectopic prior, you can get an appointment at 5 weeks. There are many reasons what it could be. I have an appointment at the EPU on Tuesday so will see.

Please try not to worry as like I

Hi.

Did this end up being a pregnancy and was it all okay?

I'm currently going through the same thing. Got a metallic taste in my mouth but tests still saying negative. Still got a few days till I'm due on.

Many thanks
